Engaging Organisations in the Sustainable Development Goals (the Global Goals Organisation Challenge)

On June 24, 2016, we were thrilled to host another of our successful Leadership@Lunch sessions delivered in partnership with Allerdale and Copeland borough councils. This one-hour highly interactive seminar was facilitated by Clive Wilson, a director of Primeast Ltd and specialists in leadership development and organisational change. Clive is also chair of United Nation's Association (Harrogate) and an advocate for the Global Goals.

The Art of Being Brilliant

On February 25, 2016, we welcomed Kev House as our guest speaker. 'The Art of Being Brilliant' provided an antidote to the crazy world that typifies modern Britain. This workshop used cutting edge research to explore how you can be you, brilliantly. The aim was to share some of the 'secrets' of Positive Psychology, focusing on learning new habits of thinking and behaviour that will sustain personal 'brilliance'.

Our team calls it 'the science of the bleedin' obvious' ... yet if it's so obvious, why are so few people doing it?

Masterclass in Fine Tuning of Selection & Interview Skills

On Saturday, February 6, 2016, the Centre for Leadership Performance ran a fun and informative masterclass on interview skills aimed at those about to face any sort of interview or selection process.

Teenagers from across Cumbria took part in this hands-on high-energy 'Interview Masterclass' delivered by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development at Energus.

David Bryon is the former Managing Director of BMI Baby, one of the UK's largest low cost airlines. BMI Baby started as a small operation and grew to a turnover of over £400m inside 4 years and carrying over 4.5m passengers every year.

Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson  

Achieving Your Goals Masterclass with Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson

On December 11, 2014, the Centre for Leadership Performance welcomed Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson for an inspiring masterclass on Achieving Your Goals.

Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson is Britain's greatest Paralympic athlete. She competed in five Paralympic Games, winning 11 Gold Medals, and won the London Wheelchair Marathon a total of six times. She is acknowledged as one of the most gifted and courageous sportswomen of her generation.

Albion Square Workshops

A series of workshops delivering business support in response to the feedback from the 'Know Your Customer' event. It was organised by the Centre for Leadership Performance as part of the coordinated preparation by Copeland Borough Council, Sellafield Ltd, Nuclear Decommissioning Authority and Britain's Energy Coast for the arrival of 1,300 Sellafield workers at the new Albion Square office complex.

Sir Clive Woodward  

Leadership, Teamship and Building High Performance Teams Masterclass with Sir Clive Woodward

Sir Clive Woodward famously guided England to victory in the 2003 Rugby World Cup and three Six Nations tournaments, including an elusive Grand Slam. He has since served as Director of Sport at the British Olympic Association, working in partnership with UK Sport. John Peters Masterclass  

After his phenomenally successful previous Masterclass in September, the Centre for Leadership Performance in association with the Ulverston Business Alliance was delighted to welcome best-selling author, performance coach, and former RAF pilot, John Peters for a Masterclass in Ulverston on April 23, 2013.

John first came to the world's attention in January 1991 when his bruised and battered image appeared on our television screens and in newspapers around the world, following his capture by Iraqi forces after being shot down alongside his navigator during the Gulf War.

John applied lessons learned in the Gulf to the business of leading under pressure, as well as providing attendees with insights and tools to improve their ability to cope with uncertainty.

On March 19, 2013, the Centre for Leadership Performance was delighted to welcome Deirdre Bounds as guest speaker at the Times Britain's Energy Coast Forum and Leadership Masterclass. As a successful entrepreneur and self made millionaire, Deirdre has been voted one of the North's top 100 entrepreneurs and is officially recognised as one of the top 50 influencers in the region. Based on her own real business experience, Deirdre shared with the audience her successes as well as her failures for others to learn from. Deirdre offered useful tips and gave practical advice on what is needed to succeed: the drive, the passion, the vision and the belief, that help deliver both personal and business improvement.

On January 30, 2013, the Centre for Leadership Performance welcomed Kevin Gaskell for a Masterclass on Achieving Organisational Effectiveness through Managing Performance. Kevin Gaskell has led three of the world's iconic car brands, Porsche, BMW and Lamborghini, to new levels of success and managed successful turnarounds of failing international companies.

On December 4, the Centre for Leadership Performance welcomed over 70 training providers, business mentors and coaches to a Supplier Event at Energus. The event, which was run in association with Britain's Energy Coast Business Cluster and Cumbria Chamber of Commerce, aimed to give local suppliers an opportunity to find out more about the Centre, what work is being done, what the plans are for the future and how they could get involved. Members of the CfLP team gave presentations and were joined by Mike Morris from the Chamber of Commerce. Dr Steve Kempster, from the University of Lancaster, was the guest speaker.

Eminent Professor of Organisational Psychology, Cary Cooper spoke alongside colleague and business psychologist Gordon Tinline at the third CfLP masterclass on March 17, 2011. Professor Cooper exposed the staggering impact stress can have, not only on employees but also on a company's bottom line, whilst Gordon identified ways of maintaining and improving personal resilience as a way of combating stress in the workplace. Dan Hunt   Dan Hunt, leading Olympic Cycling Coach, visited the Centre for Leadership Performance on February 2, 2011, to give a masterclass in leadership and motivation. One of the key messages from his visit was to remind leaders and managers to be prepared to sacrifice for their goals but ultimately to stick to their values and philosophies. Dragons Den star Duncan Bannatyne opened the masterclass series at the Centre for Leadership Performance on December 9, 2010, speaking to Cumbria's top business leaders and giving them an inspiring story of his business life. Motivating future entrepreneurs with his "just do it" attitude, he also acknowledged the difficulties of being a leader and stated "sometimes all leaders need is the recognition and confirmation that what they are doing is right." He believes the Centre is doing excellent work in progressing managers and leaders, which in these difficult economic times is crucial for survival. CfLP Launch   The Centre for Leadership Performance was officially launched on June 2, 2010. This event included a major conference at Energus, where the international figureheads of NMP, including Tom Zarges, Dave Pethick, Denis Hugelman, and Graham Campbell, were joined by over 150 local influencers who were engaged to explore options and share some initial conclusions.
