This week we started to make our product.
Richard from BAE came in and helped us to set up a finace log for money spent and raised. He also helped the project managers organise a timetable so that they can help meet deadlines.
Our marketing team made posters to advertise our stall. W emade some prototype wacky sacks with different fillings and then asked our autistic children to choose their favourite. We then voted as a class for our favourites as we want to see them to all children. We used this to decidfed how many of each to make.
We wrote to Autus to ask them to come in to speak to us

What did you find difficult this week?
Time - it took ages to make the product and create the posters.
Some tasks take longer than others and this means some people miss out on bits they like
Keeping tidy when creating the product- messy

Messy making the Wacky Sacks

Our prototypes for market research

Stock control

The selling begins
Week 6
Tell us what you have been doing this week
We are now selling our creations. At the moment almost all of our wacky sacks have been made. Every single one of them have had a high quality check and double ballooned with faces. Our selling group have been selling them at the gate and we sold out. So we had to make more. Then we ran into a problem that we had used up all our balloons and went to get more. BAE came to visit and they taught us how to stock control. Our charity emailed us to arrange to come and talk to us about autism. We have also decided to add a new design of mini wacky sacks for 20p and volunteers will make some at home.
What did you learn this week?
That it's not that easy to start a business.
You need to get everything you need.
You run out of equipment quickly.
You need to quality check everything before you can sell them.
We learned how to keep a running total of profit.
What did you find difficult this week?
The difficult part was redoing the process and having to double balloon them and redo the faces.
We struggles to keep up with demand and making the wacky sacks is quite time consuming .
Week 7 - half term

Editing the final video
Project Pius- raising money for a good cause
Week 8

At the end of week 6 it was sports day and we sold some of our Wacky sacks .We managed to sell over 15 Wacky sacks but none of our Finger Fiddlers .Some people have been taking some wacky sacks to their clubs outside of school. Them people have also been taking a bit of money incase they need to give out change and just brought the money back. This day is our last day of selling so all wacky sacks are half price they are now 50p whereas the finger fiddlers are 5p due to trying to sell them quicker. We have also made a video showing and talking about our roles using Book CreatorWhat did you learn this week?
That it isn't easy to sell everyday How to make an assembly We need to make it half price to sell out quicker so we have none left. How to make a video using Book CreatorWhat did you find difficult this week?
The blog since we have been off for a week and people are confused for when were selling and finishing our project. Getting the video made has been hard as everyone wanted to have a role. For pupils to answer:
In one sentence please tell us what bright stars has meant to you?
We have never done a social enterprise like this before and it has been so much fun running our own business as a class team.
For teachers to answer:
Can you tell us the impact this programme has had on your school?
It has been wonderful for the children to work with a people from business/ industry and receive their advice about how the children's roles would look in the real world.
The children have benefitted from working in small teams, supporting one another to meet deadlines but also working for the greater good of their social enterprise. Its has been lovely to see the confidence of so many children grow, especially when selling.
