Week 1

Team name: PWPS

Tell us what you have been doing this week

This week we had a really productive session for our Bright Stars project! We started by talking about what the hospice does and learned that it supports people and families who are going through very difficult times, offering care, comfort, and kindness. We thought about how our project could link to the hospice’s amazing work. We decided that we want our business idea to reflect the same values of care, support, and community.

What did you learn this week?

We learnt it takes £5.1M to keep the hospice going - which is mostly made through fundraising efforts.

What did you find difficult this week?

We shared lots of ideas for our business! Everyone contributed something different — some suggested selling handmade items, others thought about hosting events. Deciding will be tricky!

Week 5

Tell us what you have been doing this week

We've made a firm decision on the film to be shown following a vote by our bright stars and we have started designing our posters for advertising our products and events. We'll work on them more next week!

What did you learn this week?

Our Brightstars learned about film ratings to make sure everyone in our community could enjoy the experience. They focused on Universal-rated films, ensuring the final choices were accessible and inclusive for all.

What did you find difficult this week?

Our Brightstars struggled to agree on a film, with lots of great options on the table. In the end, a vote helped us decide, and the winning film is the one we’ll be screening!

The Brightstars found it tricky to combine everyone’s different poster ideas, so they decided each person would design one element. This helped them focus their efforts, work as a team.

Week 7

Tell us what you have been doing this week

After choosing the film, our Brightstars children were set a creative task: drawing individual elements for the film screening poster. Each child contributed their own ideas and artwork, which Mrs Carr will bring together to create one AMAZING final poster for everyone to enjoy.

What did you learn this week?

What did you find difficult this week?

Photoshopping all the designs turned out to be much trickier than Mrs Carr first thought! But... we got there in the end!

Week 8

Tell us what you have been doing this week

The Brightstars have been busy spreading the word about their upcoming film night, sharing the excitement with others in the community. They’ve also been hard at work creating even more wares to sell at the Christmas Fayre, putting in lots of effort and creativity.

What did you learn this week?

The Brightstars learned that the customer is always right! By listening to parent and carer feedback, they changed the film night start time from 6pm to 4pm, making it easier for more families to attend and enjoy the screening.

What did you find difficult this week?

The Brightstars learned that volunteers make the world a much better place. By roping in our PTFA to help with their endeavours, they saw how teamwork and generosity can make a big difference.
