Week 1
Team name: MASC Jars
Tell us what you have been doing this week
This week we met Vicki from Jigsaw Children's Hospice. She told us all about what Jigsaw does and what her job as Fundraising Manager involved. We worked in groups to brainstorm ideas for our business, before voting on what we wanted to do as a class.
We have decided to create gift jars with a bracelet, a hot chocolate and a hug.
What did you learn this week?
We learned what a Fundraising Manager does.
What did you find difficult this week?
We found it difficult to agree on what idea we were doing - we had lots of great ideas.

Vicki told us about her job.

We worked in groups to come up with ideas.

Week 2
Tell us what you have been doing this week
We came up with our business name - MASC jars and got a clearer idea of what our business will sell.
MASC jars will create gift jars with different themes. All jars will have a hot chocolate sachet and a handmade bracelet as well as a hug. Mystery jars will also have a mystery gift. Art jars will have something arty or creative in it. Sweet jars will have a sweet. Christmas jars will include a Christmas themed gift.
We discussed that the Christmas themed jars would only come on sale closer to Christmas.
We made posters to advertise our new business.
What did you learn this week?
We learnt about the importance of listening to everyone and thinking about ideas critically. We had so many ideas it was hard to narrow down!
We discussed the type of bracelet we would make at length and we settled on beaded bracelets.
What did you find difficult this week?
We found it difficult to pin down exactly what we were doing.
We couldn't decide exactly what would go in each jar because we had so many ideas!
Week 3 - Half Term
Tell us what you have been doing this week
This week we learned about the different job roles that a business could have. We decided to separate into teams: Finance, Manufacturing, Design and Sales.
We held interviews for our potential managers and got to ask really challenging questions to make sure we chose the correct person to lead our business. Jayse won the vote and Aoife and Maggie were appointed as co-managers.
Our managers' first act was to create an advert to go on our School Dojo page.
What did you learn this week?
We learned about asking the right questions to find out information about each other and we thought about the qualities that a person would need in order to lead us effectively.
What did you find difficult this week?
Making decisions and not upsetting people.

Week 4
Tell us what you have been doing this week
This week we started making our jars, but we had to replan because we didn't have enough jars donated. We decided to do gift bags and keep our jars for the Christmas Coffee Day in a few weeks time.
What did you learn this week?
The importance of focus and teamwork when making the fiddly bracelets. We were so keen to get started that we started threading beads without thinking about the size of the bracelets and how many beads should be on each. Our managers stopped us before we had gone too far and saved the day!

What did you find difficult this week?
We hadn't thought about children with allergies and had to make swaps so that they could have a gift bag that was good for them.

We carried on making our gift bags and selling them this week. And we also had to start preparing for the Christmas Coffee Day. We decided to make some extra Christmas themed gifts: reindeer candy canes and our special Christmas Jars.
The Christmas Jars were all covered in glitter and had Christmas themed gifts and sweets inside.

Tell us what you have been doing this week
This week was the Christmas Coffee Day.
We came in early to grab the best stall and we decorated it with Christmas paper, signs and our gifts.
We divided into teams and took turns selling to the parents and pupils that attended. It was a great success! We sold out of everything about halfway through the afternoon!
