Week 1

Team name: The Dearham Dreams

Tell us what you have been doing this week

Report by Penny (Year 5)

“We were coming up with ideas for things that we could make for our project. I had the idea that we could make and sell bracelets, as they are really popular at the minute, and I thought it would be fun. When we voted on ideas, my idea got the most votes, so that is the one we are going to start with!

We all did designs for prototype bracelets we could use to show our customers. We had ideas that we could make ones inspired by popular things, like tv shows and movies and Taylor Swift (I’m a Swiftie!), because they would probably sell the best.

Report by Jayden (Year 5)

“I wanted to design some bracelets that boys would like. I came up with a bunch of football themed bracelets, inspired by different players and teams. When we did our research
My plan next week is to make a few of my designs, so that we have prototypes to show to people."

What did you find difficult this week?

Report by Alfie (Year 5)

"The hard bit is knowing what price to sell them for. We need to make some money, to pay for the bits, but also they need to not cost too much so people will buy them."

Creating design briefs for our bracelets.

Tell us what you have been doing this week

Report by Kate (Year 5)

“I tried to design some bracelets that would be popular with a variety of ages. I designed some vibrant, tv show inspired designs that would interest the younger pupils, and more mature ones with natural and pastel colours for the older pupils.
This week we have been making samples to sell to the older pupils. I have also made some bracelets at home to practise. I have made ones inspired by Peppa Pig and Thomas the Tank Engine, for Nursery and Reception.

What did you learn this week?

James (Year 5)

“I have been working on the graphic design team. I have made posters and adverts for our bracelets, to help make them look cool. That way we get more people wanting to buy them.
I try to make them really eye-catching, and have nice font, effect, and photos to get peoples’ attention.

What did you find difficult this week?

Jasmine (Year 5)

"I think we should send out order form, so people can request custom designs and ideas for us to make too.

The hardest part is tying the bracelets properly so they don't explode!"

Soffia (Year 4)

This week we have been continuing with our bracelet making. We had a visit from Jude who is from the business that is working with us. He sat with us and we chatted about our bracelets. He decided to make one too! It was fun to meet him in real life rather than on Teams!

Report from Evan
"This week, I was the 'line manager' of our Graphic Design team. James and I had to show the Year 4s how to use the ipads to create posters. We had to be patient and helpful."

What did you learn this week?

Lucas (Year 4)

I have learnt more about the benefits of teamwork this week. I have been working with the Year 5 girls (who I never usually work with) and we have found ways to work together to get the job done quicker!

What did you find difficult this week?

Isla (Year 5)

It was difficult to tie our own bracelets because of the elastic string. We have switched to some cotton string and found it is much easier to use. This will speed up our production!

some

Our presentation is starting to take shape!

Week 4

Tell us what you have been doing this week

Henry (Year 4)

This week we have been preparing for our exciting Bright Stars school assembly. We have been working together to write a presentation to tell the other children about what we have been doing in Bright Stars. This will be good because we are advertising our bracelets in assembly and can get the other children interested, so that they buy lots of them!

What did you learn this week?

Lucas (Year 4)
We learned how to create Powerpoint slides for our assembly this week. We also had to think carefully about what we wanted to say and what we wanted the slides to look like. I am excited to talk in assembly and tell everyone about our project!

What did you find difficult this week?

We had some struggles with using the remaining beads we had left. There were various letters and colours, so we had to think creatively to design a bracelet that would incorporate these and waste any!

Poppy Year 4 - This week, we started to think about the final touches for our bracelets. We decided that we should have some packaging and we would design labels for our packaging. Year 5 girls also designed some thank you notes to place inside the packages.
