Week 2

Tell us what you have been doing this week

We have really enjoyed Ian from Capgemini sharing how we can make our eco bee houses, these can be put within our community due to the recycled materials being used to make these.

What did you learn this week?

We have had so much fun making our eco bee houses to be sold as part of our bright stars project. We wanted to bring our community together and support our environment.

What did you find difficult this week?

It was difficult to make sure we used enough glue to stick the house together so when we removed the tape we didn’t have to redo this.

Week 3

Tell us what you have been doing this week

We have been making our bracelets and sport key rings to sell for our bright stars project. We added sport beads to our key rings and created some themed rugby ones as some of the boys requested. Think these going to be a sell out!

What did you learn this week?

We learnt to work together as a team and in groups to create as many bracelets and key-rings. Some children in class have been created these at home and bringing them in to sell at our event also. Another way to bring our community together. Ormsgill Buzzes Bright 🐝🌟

Week 9

Tell us what you have been doing this week

We have been discussing what we have made as a profit and how we would like the money to be spent. As we spend time at our local youth club, in our community, we would like half of the money raised to go to them and the other half to our school.

What did you learn this week?

We have learnt lots of skills to be able to set up our own mini social enterprise, which a few children said they wanted to. We learnt to work better in a team and be more resilient and perceiver.

What did you find difficult this week?

For pupils to answer:

In one sentence please tell us what bright stars has meant to you?

good fun and loved having Capgemini working with us especially as we are having a rocket build day as a treat

For teachers to answer:
Can you tell us the impact this programme has had on your school?

The children have increased in team work skills, communicating with each other, built on their confidence, resilience and perseverance. They remained positive and happy and were really keen to start this project, seeing their faces when we said how much they had raised was brilliant, such a sense of achievement. As we work hard as a whole school community, Capgemini supported and maintained this, enabling the sales to go into the wider community. The children really enjoyed working with Capgemini and hopefully we get to keep in touch in the future.
