Team name: Year 3 and 4
Tell us what you have been doing this week
This week we met Issy, who came into our school to talk about what we would be doing over the next few weeks. We decided that we would design some mugs with affirmations on to help people feel good. We came up with a company name 'Feel Good Mugs' and decided on where we would sell them and who to.
What did you learn this week?
We learnt what a company is, the different roles people have in companies and about business names. We also learnt about the five P's of business.
What did you find difficult this week?
We found deciding what to put on our mugs a little difficult but got there in the end!

Week 2
Tell us what you have been doing this week
This week, we met some people from Sellafield who told us all about their job roles. We also designed and voted on a logo for our company 'Feel Good Mugs'. Well done to Zac for designing the winning logo.
What did you learn this week?
We learnt about the different roles people do in companies.
What did you find difficult this week?
Deciding on the company logo as they were all brilliant!
Week 3
Tell us what you have been doing this week
This week we applied for jobs based on what role we would like to have in a company. We had to say what skills we thought would benefit each role and why we would be good in that particular role.
What did you learn this week?
What roles companies have and the skills they need for the roles.
What did you find difficult this week?
Saying why we should do that particular role.


Week 4
Tell us what you have been doing this week
This week we met with some more people over teams who told us about their jobs. We also talked about what skills were needed for those particular jobs and the children asked some fantastic questions. After that, we thought of a number of affirmations that we would like to include on our mugs. We also looked at how many mugs we had in school and decided on the medium that we were going to use to write on the mugs.
What did you learn this week?
About the different roles in Sellafield and the different affirmation quotes that are around.
What did you find difficult this week?
Deciding which affirmations we wanted to include on our mugs as there are so many fantastic ones to choose from.
Week 5
Tell us what you have been doing this week
This week we decided on the date and venue for our selling event. It will take place on Wednesday 19th June at 3pm at Parton Village Hall. We also designed some fantastic posters advertising our event which we will be putting up in and around school in the first week back after half term. We also decided how much our mugs should be sold for and what offers to include.
What did you learn this week?
To be resilient and to take our time when designing posters. We also learnt about pricing and making a profit. We decided on selling our mugs for £5 each with a special offer of 2 for £8.
What did you find difficult this week?
Deciding on the price of our mugs.


Week 6 - half term
Week 7
Tell us what you have been doing this week
This week, we put our posters up all around the school. We checked that the spellings were correct and asked the other teachers if it was OK to put them up in their classrooms. We also looked at the different roles people have in various industries such as engineers, projects managers and finance and admin workers.
What did you learn this week?
This week, we learnt all about the different roles that people have in Sellafield. It was interesting to find out what their jobs entailed.
What did you find difficult this week?
Deciding on where to place our posters so that parents could see them!




Week 8
Tell us what you have been doing this week
Mug making week! This week, we started making our mugs. We double checked the spellings of our affirmations and got to work! We worked super hard drawing and writing on our mugs with the special acrylic based pens that we bought with the money provided. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and can't wait to finish them next week. We also decided to jazz up our mugs by including some hot chocolate and marshmallows.
What did you learn this week?
To take our time, to be resilient and to really concentrate on what we are doing.
What did you find difficult this week?
Nothing! We thoroughly enjoyed making our mugs!
Week 9
Tell us what you have been doing this week
Trading week! This week we finished off and sold our mugs. We had a blast! It was so wonderful to see our wonderful parents come along to support us. We raised over £150 which will will be donating to the British Red Cross (chosen by the children).
What did you learn this week?
We have learnt so much during this project, including what roles people have in a business, the five P's of business, how to advertise and sell. It has been a pleasure to work with Issy and we very much look forward to next year's Bright Stars!
What did you find difficult this week?
Setting up the selling event because we weren't sure what the weather was going to do for us to sell our mugs outside.

The children have absolutely loved taking part in Bright Stars this year. It was wonderful to see them come up with the lovely idea of decorating mugs with positive affirmations to make people feel better. It has solidified what kind, caring pupils I have in my class. We would like to thank Issy and Lucy for coming in every week and would like to thank our wonderful parents for supporting us during our selling event. We very much look forward to taking part next year!
