Week 5

Tell us what you have been doing this week

During this week we asked the pupils and staff of the school to send to the Bright Stars group mantras for our book.
We worked with Nicola and approached Fir-press to cost putting the book together. We worked out how many pages we would have a the potential cost. We also discussed time to get the book ready for sale.
RE-THINK:
We decided that the book would take too long and the cost of producing it would be difficult to make a decent profit, so we thought of other things we could make. We decided to produce picture frames.

What did you learn this week?

It was important to consider all the production options and the costing even if it meant changing the product outcome. We worked on finance and costing and found that we needed to make a cheaper product to get a better profit return. The finance group costed the frames they were ordered.

What did you find difficult this week?

Getting a product was difficult to make a profit so we changed from a book to a photo
Getting pupils and staff motivated to get the Mantras to us so that we could choose ready to produce the product.

Week 7

Tell us what you have been doing this week

This week was production week. The frames arrived and the production team set about putting the Mantras into the frames ready for our sales week next week.
The enterprise event was planned with us collecting the product idea from each class, the cost to make it and the potential profit it might make. We have started to get the finance information and work out how much we might make.

What did you learn this week?

We really worked well as a team to put all the mantras into the frames. As we were putting the Mantras into the frames we talked about the mantras and made changes to the ones we used. Mantras can help you develop positive thinking and feeling good but one we chose as it was from the Rugby player.

What did you find difficult this week?

Choosing the Mantras, there are so many that we liked and felt would be positive but one we really liked and used was the one from Rob Burrows it was sad but very powerful and would inspire positivity

It was interesting costing the making of the mantras and working out the price we should charge to make a profit.

What did you find difficult this week?

Making a choice of the mantras we had lots of really good ones.
Costing the mantras so that they would be at a price to sell, affordable, was a difficult decision. We think in the end we all agreed.
