What did you find difficult this week?

Thinking what to write for our leaflets. How to plan the design and layout was difficult. Should we write about food and drinks first or where to go to keep warm.

Week 6

Tell us what you have been doing this week

This week we planned our leaflets which will inform how to stay warm in winter and why it is important. We then checked our work to correct errors and up level. We planned our Pie's, Pea's and Bingo night which we held on Thursday night and raised £290. The pies cost us only £11.00 each, and each pie was cut into 6 pieces for adults and 8 pieces for children. We sold each piece for £4 Adult and £2.00 a child. We also ordered items to sell in our Christmas Lights Switch On which we are holding next week. We planned and built board games with a winter warming theme which we take home.

What did you learn this week?

We learnt how to make informative leaflets that look nice and attractive. This took most of our week as we had to ensure that they were accurate and spelt correctly. This took a long time and we spent quite a lot of time planning these.

What did you find difficult this week?

Drawing on the leaflets was difficult to do. Planning informative leaflets which were accurate and informative was difficult and took so much time.

Week 7

Tell us what you have been doing this week

Brandon and Jakub held an assembly In front of the whole school to run through our Christmas shop. In order that we could price competitively we visited the local B&M store and now have all of the items priced to sell. We also arranged the donated clothes for the coat exchange on to rails and tables. This was VERY successful. The rest of this week was setting up for the Christmas Event. Having reviewed our costs it looks like we will have more money to spare which means we can spend more on each winter warmer pack. The event was amazing and everyone commented on its success.

What did you learn this week?

We have learnt this week how to plan and setup for an Event which we found takes time.

What did you find difficult this week?

Setting up has been very tiring.

Week 8

Tell us what you have been doing this week

An update on last week, we held the Christmas event which included the coat exchange which was very, very busy and supported by our families. Almost all the clothes were taken by families who needed them. We raised FAR more money than we expected. With the money raised we went shopping to buy items for the winter warmer packs: hats, gloves, socks, hot water bottles, oodie, blanket, tea, coffee, juice, soup, biscuit, cake. We mainly shopped in B n M and they gave us a 10% discount on our purchases. We have finally finished our leaflets and photocopied them- these will go into the packs.

What did you learn this week?

We have found how generous local businesses can be when they know that the school is doing a winter packs for those in need.

What did you find difficult this week?

How to spend the money because local businesses are so generous and give discounts.

Week 9

Tell us what you have been doing this week

This week has been another busy week. We finished shopping for the Winter Warmer bags. The last item we included was a zip up, fluffy oodie. The packs looks AMAZING! We made Christmas cards to go in the bags, packed the bags with: the items bought, our leaflets and card. We delivered them to the local community centre for them to be distributed to the vulnerable and elderly that they have identified. Making our final video has been a priority this week. Please see our sway that we intend to send out to everyone who has helped us. https://sway.office.com/7A6sS1OF84QnW5ts?ref=Link&loc=play

What did you learn this week?

We learned that making a difference is more important than making money. The community centre staff were overwhelmed with our donations and they cannot wait to give them to those in need. This made us feel happy knowing we had made winter easier for many local people.

What did you find difficult this week?

We had so much to show on our final video and so much to say that we found it really difficult to keep to the time guidance of 2-3minutes. We have overran but we needed to let you know everything.

For pupils to answer:
