Week 4

Tell us what you have been doing this week

This week we worked in 5 groups to make the basic biscuits but we were able to add 2 ingredients to the recipe. We had to decide as a group the 2 extra ingredients and make sure they worked together. We then made the biscuits, enough for everyone to try a bit of the biscuit. The next day we tried all the different ones and then voted as a class our favourite one. We also looked at the cost of the different ingredients that we will be using to make our biscuits.

What did you learn this week?

We learnt that some of the ingredients we added didn't work together and some of the ingredients didn't work when we cooked them as you couldn't taste them in the biscuit. We also learnt that some of the ingredients were a lot more expensive than we thought.

What did you find difficult this week?

We found it hard deciding which 2 ingredients we were going to put in the biscuits as some of them didn't work very well.

For pupils to answer:

In one sentence please tell us what bright stars has meant to you?

It has helped us to learn about budgeting and marketing.
We had to work together as a team and listen to each others ideas.
We tried to think of ways to include everyone's ideas.

For teachers to answer:
Can you tell us the impact this programme has had on your school?

More awareness of deforestation and the impact that it is having on earth, humans and animals. We made links with BAE, where many of our parents work and this gave the children insight into what it is like to work in a large corporation. Children have learnt how to have better discussion in which they listen to each other more carefully and are more likely to consider other peoples ideas and compromise.
