Team name: Jericho Geos

Tell us what you have been doing this week

This week we sat down together and looked at some potential options for our business and discussed whether or not they would be viable and could turn a profit.

What did you learn this week?

We learned that not every business idea can be profitable and that to make this work we were going to have to work together as a cohesive group.

What did you find difficult this week?

Something we found difficult this week was finding a business idea that everybody could get on with. With everyone having different ideas and preferences we had to find a way to please everybody.

Week 2

Tell us what you have been doing this week

This week we took on some market research in order to understand the preferences of our potential customers. We created questionnaires and sent them around school to capture the preferences and interests of our target audience.

What did you learn this week?

This week we learned that it is important to direct our service towards a target audience and look to market for a customer base that would most likely be interested in our product, in order to maximise sales revenue.

What did you find difficult this week?

This week we struggled initially to decide which particular age range / gender / location would be best to target for our products, as each of the members in our team had conflicting opinions. We reso

Week 3

Tell us what you have been doing this week

This week we really started to kick off with the creation and development of our service. We began to select some areas around the school that could be key locations within our orienteering challenge.

What did you learn this week?

We learned that not everywhere in school would be suitable to direct people, as some areas would not be practical or fully accessible. We also learned that in order to sell this service we would need to make sure to market for it properly so that we can spread word about our business.

What did you find difficult this week?

This week we struggled a little bit with finding enough separate locations within school in order to create a substantial activity for our customers. We mitigated this by breaking down our selected ar

This week we were on our York Residential!

What did you learn this week?

We learned about map reading skills and the importance of precise directions for our orienteering challenges.

What did you find difficult this week?

We have a product ready to sell, but realised that we didn't have the man-power to be able to sell while we were away - we found out about the importance of employees for a business as a result!

Tell us what you have been doing this week

We finally got to set up, market, and sell our product for the first time!

What did you learn this week?

We learned about the importance of a knowledgeable and positive selling team who can help our customers with all their needs whilst also using persuasive language!

What did you find difficult this week?

We had done our marketing but on the first day of selling we didn't sell many maps; this increased on the second day, so we learned about the value of 'word of mouth'!

Week 8

Tell us what you have been doing this week

This week we continued to sell our maps for our orienteering hunt. People started to bring their money in and we started to make lots of money by selling our product. It was important to do lots of marketing to increase the awareness of our business so that everybody remembered their money.

What did you learn this week?

This week we learnt that by doing lots of marketing, making posters, talking about our product, we were able to make much more money than in previous weeks. This shows that good marketing is very important.

What did you find difficult this week?

This week, we found that our business plan wasn't perfect as people didn't want to go around our course in poor weather conditions. This meant people weren't using our maps while it was rainy.

Week 9

Tell us what you have been doing this week

This week lots of people began to start adventuring around our orienteering course, and finding the various Geo's planted around the school site.

What did you learn this week?

This week we learnt that by doing lots of planning, marketing, selling and with lots of good teamwork and collaboration, we were able to make lots of money for our school and charity!
