Week 1
Team name: Wild Wings
Tell us what you have been doing this week
This week we met Nicky from Oak Tree Animal Charity, our partner charity. It was lovely to see Nicky again as we were paired with Oak Tree last time we did Bright Stars. We spent some time thinking of ideas for our business, and voted to choose our favourite. We started to create a business plan with clear aims of what we will do.
What did you learn this week?
Nicky taught us about what a business is, we looked at different businesses and if they provide services or goods, and we looked at how a business can run.
We learnt about what a business plan looks like and had a go at making our own.
What did you find difficult this week?
Some people found it difficult to come up with business ideas. It was also tricky when your idea wasn't chosen and a bit disappointing.

Week 2
Tell us what you have been doing this week
This week Nicky came in and talked us through the job roles that are involved in a business and what the responsibilities of each job are. We thought about what job we would like to do and wrote a job application form. Then we had interviews conducted by Nicky, Miss Baker and Mrs Bailey. Our jobs were chosen and we got started! Some of us made prototypes of the products we hope to make.
What did you learn this week?
This week we learnt how to write a job application and what sort of things to write in them. Nicky told us it was important to write about our qualities. We learnt about how to work in a team and how to apply our skills in our job roles.
What did you find difficult this week?
It was difficult to think about the qualities that make us good for the job role we were applying for and it was tricky to answer some of the questions during the interviews as we had to think quickly
Week 3
Tell us what you have been doing this week
This week we made a plan of who is doing what. We started to write letters to parents and local builders to ask for donations of recycled resources such as wood and nails. In the parent letter we have asked if any parents could come in and help us with making our wonderful bird houses/feeders after school in a workshop.
What did you learn this week?
This week we chose the name for our business and we decided to go with 'Wild Wings'. We decided this by using a blind vote. We discussed who would write the letters to parents and builders and who would design the logo, and delegated other jobs such as creating a mood board.
What did you find difficult this week?
We found it difficult to get people into the swing of doing their job. We found it difficult to decide on the price of our products and the name for our business.

This week, the customer service team designed and wrote letters to parents and builders merchants. We asked the parents if they could help out in a building workshop after the holidays and we asked the builders merchants if they would donate any wood so that we could build our products. We kindly received a donation from Travis Perkins in Wigton which will help us to build our products. We have interviewed some of our team leaders and asked them what they found tricky and what they liked and what they will change.

What did you learn this week?
This week we found out the price range we would use for our products amd how to use persuasive writing.
What did you find difficult this week?
We were given a marketing sheet to fill-in and some questions were challenging to answer. When people were designing the posters, they found it tricky to fit all of the information onto one page.

This is someone filling in the marketing plan sheet.

This is our winning poster.

This week we found it difficult to make our products because it was tricky to get the nails out of the wood when they had bent. Some people this week found it hard, adding the felt to our products.

This is some of our crew using the heat pens to print our logo onto our product.
