Week 1

Team name: Muddy Buds @ St. Cuthbert's

Tell us what you have been doing this week

Week 1 got off to a great start. We planted seeds in preparation before trading began. Jo and the team at Twoey Toys kindly offered to take care of the seedlings while we took out Easter break.
On our return we began selling our sunflower plants which had grown well. We created a small stall and sold all of our sunflowers to parents and friends.

What did you learn this week?

We learned to persevere, Not all of our plants will thrive. But we will keep going and adapt as we go.
We also learned that we have great support from our mentors at Twoey Toys.

What did you find difficult this week?

Some of our plants got knocked over. We lost a few. We were disappointed but carried on and sold the ones that survived.

Week 2

Tell us what you have been doing this week

Following on from our success, selling sunflowers, we decided to continue with flowers. It will be some time before our vegetables are ready to sell.

Twoey Toys were incredible at helping us find a contact with a local plant nursery who very kindly donated geraniums and some vegetable plants to join our crop.

We decorated plant pots and planted the geraniums in them.

Wigton Newsletter posted an article about our venture.

What did you learn this week?

We learned that when you seek help, people are willing to offer their support. We feel very grateful.

What did you find difficult this week?

It took a lot of work to decorate our pots and fill them.

Week 3

Tell us what you have been doing this week

We have had a really busy and successful week.

Our geraniums have sold really well.
We had a table outside of school and sold our potted flowers to passers by.

We only have a few left in stock.

What did you learn this week?

We learned that advertising is essential.
Our first day of selling was very slow due to our customers not bringing any cash with them.

We told them that we would return the next day.
People brought their money along. We almost sold out.

What did you find difficult this week?

Letting people know we were selling was tricky. Even with a post on social media, we found that people didn't know we were there.

Week 5

Tell us what you have been doing this week

We are really pleased with our success so far. We have made a profit from selling our lovely flowers. Our fruit and vegetables are growing well but are not yet ready to harvest. We are enjoying watching them grow and learning how to take care of them.

A big aim of ours was to spread joy and kindness throughout this project.
So this week we have gifted some of our produce to visitors in school.
The mother's who brought their babies and toddlers to our play sessions were delighted to receive such a thoughtful gift.

What did you learn this week?

That kindness is infectious and spreading joy feels great.

What did you find difficult this week?

Finding our confidence to approach new adults was tricky. But their lovely response to our kindness helped us bloom too.
