Week 1

Team name: Bright Candles

Tell us what you have been doing this week

This week we decided that we what kind of business we want. We had lots of ideas to start with so we had a vote and decided we will make bracelets and comics as these were the two most popular ideas.
We also decided that we will call our business Bright Candles. Bright from Bright Stars and Candle because that's the logo of our school and it shines a light on us.

What did you learn this week?

We learnt how to give reasons to persuade others and listened to each other. We learnt that in a democracy you don't always get what you want.

What did you find difficult this week?

Making a decision as there were so many good ideas.

Tell us what you have been doing this week

This week Lily and Diana from Nestle talked to us about marketing using an example of a Milkybar. They also told us about the 5 Ps: people, place, product, promotion, price.

Then we all had a go at designing a logo for our company which we have decided to call Bright Candles. We chose candles as that is the logo for our school.

We have also written letters to Nestle to explain which job we would like in our company and why we think we will be good at it.

What did you learn this week?

We learnt that logos should be simple and easy to remember.

What did you find difficult this week?

Remembering the 5Ps.

Thinking of examples of what we have done that will help us in the job we would like to have in our company.

Week 3

Tell us what you have been doing this week

This week we had interviews for the different jobs in our business.

What did you learn this week?

Interviews can be fun because we can share what we like about the job. It was also a bit scary when they asked questions but we could answer them ok. Sometimes you can get a bit nervous and embarrassed but we could still answer some questions. The interviewers were kind and patient.

What did you find difficult this week?

It is was a bit nerve racking before the interviews.
Sometimes you wanted to say something but you were scared you were going to mess up.

Week 7

Tell us what you have been doing this week

This week we have continued to work on making our bracelets and comics. We have had to think carefully about quality control to make sure that our products are good enough to sell. We also started to do our spreadsheet to keep track of our money.

What did you learn this week?

We learnt that bracelets need to be measured carefully. Also, not to cut the elastic too short as it makes it too hard to tie the knots.
We also learnt that we need to take care with the presentation of our comics. We decided the boxes needed to be drawn using a ruler to keep it looking smart.

What did you find difficult this week?

Editing the comics so that they are a high quality to sell.
Making sure the bracelets were the right length.
