Tell us what you have been doing this week
A group of Year 2 children met Dave from The Vicky. He talked about his business and then he explained about Bright Stars social enterprise.
We all had questions and suggestions for our project and we worked in groups to complete a mind map about what our business could be.
We havent decided on our business name yet but we had a lot of ideas linked to what our project might be.
What did you learn this week?
We learnt all about Dave's business and what he needs to do to be successful. We all learnt so many new names for jobs- marketing, production, and the boss!!!
What did you find difficult this week?
We all thought really hard about what we could do/ create/ make in order fir us to have a really successful business

Week 2
Tell us what you have been doing this week
Today we learned about the key job roles in a business. We looked at the applications that had been sent in and talked about the candidates strengths and what they could offer to our business. We voted and we were able to appoint our key members of the team.
We shared with Dave what we our plans were and how we were going to make money and he was able to give us even more ideas!!
What did you learn this week?
We learnt more about the key roles in a business and what skills you need to do certain jobs.
What did you find difficult this week?
Trying to sort out all of our ideas for what we are going to do. Keeping organised will be key!!
Week 3
Tell us what you have been doing this week
This week we have focused on getting our logo finalised and getting our main fundraising event advertised.
We have a clear plan of what we would like to achieve and how we are going to achieve it.
We all have our job roles and we are working in our teams.
What did you learn this week?
We have learnt that it is important to hear other peoples ideas. Voting and listening to others is a big part about working as a team.
What did you find difficult this week?
We have found it tricky to ensure that we have everyone involved in the project is coordinated and ready for the big fundraising events.

Week 4
Tell us what you have been doing this week
Its been a busy week this week. We have been looking at our business plan and ensuring we have a good business idea. The finance team have met with teachers to talk about what they will be selling and how much profit we can make.
There is a lot to think about and we have a lot of people to consider when we are making decisions.
What did you learn this week?
The finance team have learnt that you have to plan out what you need to buy and then how much you can sell things for to make a profit.
What did you find difficult this week?
Making sure everyone's idea's are considered and that we are fair. Planning with the finance team to make sure we have a profitable business!! There are so many new business terms to remember.
Week 5
Tell us what you have been doing this week
Its been a week to organise our big event and ensure that we have a good business plan.
The team have been working on the enterprise items to sell and they are hoping to make a good profit.
We have have a massive whole event on 5th June. We are hosting a WOW art exhibition. We have been working on the history of Workington and all our classes have focused on a historic landmark and then created artwork and enterprise pieces to sell.
It has been so much fun to do together and we have learnt so much about Workington, what an awesome town!!
What did you learn this week?
Organising can be hard!!!!
There are a lot of people to coordinate and there are a lot of people involved.
We didn't realise how much information we would have to manage and tell people.
What did you find difficult this week?
It has been hard work trying to work out how we can best showcase our art work and make sure as many people as possible come and purchase the enterprise we have made.

Tell us what you have been doing this week
This week final preparations were underway for our big art exhibition celebrating the Wonders Of Workington (WOW).
We have checked all of the enterprise items that will be for sale and made posters to show the prices. After a lot of discussion the management team decided that we would be selling everything for £5.
Everyone has made such fabulous creative Workington art.
What did you learn this week?
We learnt that we will need to give change to our customers and that we needed 'floats'. We have counted out the money to ensure that we have change if people bring more money.
We also learnt that we need people to sell, people to serve in the cafe and people to talk to our customers.
What did you find difficult this week?
Agreeing on pricing up was tricky as we all had to agree.
Counting the money for the floats was a team effort and we needed lots of help.

Week 8
Tell us what you have been doing this week
This week was really exciting. We hosted our big WOW exhibition. We had invited the mayor of Workington to come and celebrate everything that is WOW about Workington. We had parents, the mayor, community people and pupils all in school to look at our art exhibition, share our learning and buy the enterprise items we had made.
We were able to sell the items to the visitors and this was very good but very hard work as well.
What did you learn this week?
We learnt that setting up a shop is not easy, you have to display your items well and then get ready to sell. Having a lot of people to talk to about what you have been doing is great.
What did you find difficult this week?
We had a lot of visitors in school to look after and we had to sell our items.
We are really looking forward to getting all the money in though and counting it!!
Week 9
Tell us what you have been doing this week
This week has been a very exciting week. We had our big event and then we have had to count up our money. There was a lot to count. We completed a questionnaire which asked us all about our project and what we had learnt, we didn't realize how much we had actually done. We have also made plans to take our art show on tour and liaised with our church to host an art show.
What did you learn this week?
This week we learnt that evaluation is an important part of the process. We found out that your opinion matters and that not everyone has to have the same opinion but we must respect others opinion.
What did you find difficult this week?
Making sure that all the information we had was correct and that everything was ready for the end of our business. We had to make sure we had been successful as well as that's important.

In one sentence please tell us what bright stars has meant to you?
It was really fun and I really enjoyed it. We worked hard and I loved doing all the paperwork. It was great to do and I loved my job.

Can you tell us the impact this programme has had on your school?
As always the Bright Stars project and has been welcomed by all in school. This year all our pupils participated and it has been a fantastic experience. The Year 2 children who wanted a management job applied for it and they took up their roles with gusto, they have managed the project all the way.
The theme of the project was Wonders of Workington which means we have all learnt so much about our home town, we know about the vast and varied history of our people and buildings and we can share this now with others.
The management team have had such an empowering experience, they have been able to take charge, lead and direct others and engage in weekly business meetings with our partners. \

The team agreed at the start of the project we would donate all our profits to FOVISA (1110976) as this would benefit all our pupils. We plan on expanding our business by taking the art on tour to our local church and hosting a coffee afternoon. This is as much about sharing our learning and pride in our community as it is about profit.

Prize categories and reasons
Best team work, collaboration and leadership
We have had every child in school involved in this project, 255, and from all our pupils we interviewed for the Bright Stars management team. We had 20 children on the management team and they have been amazing. The children have worked so well as a team and in collaboration with our business partne
Most profitable social enterprise
We were able to make our whole project profitable by using donated materials and recycling and reusing resources. We didn't need to use our seed money.
Best community engagement
Our entire project centered around community. We wanted to celebrate Workington, we wanted to people in our community involved and to come and learn about what we had learned. We involved pupils, parents, the mayor and used social media to share the Wonders Of Workington.
