About The Bridge Dental Practice

The Bridge Dental Practice is a modern, family-focused practice located on the main A6 at the south end of Kendal. The team is committed to delivering high standards of dental care in a professional and friendly environment, offering a full range of general dentistry services.

With a knowledgeable and experienced team that prioritises ongoing professional development, the practice provides a supportive setting for individuals beginning their career in dental nursing.

The Opportunity

The practice is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic apprentice dental nurse to join the team. This Level 3 Dental Nursing Apprenticeship offers the opportunity to gain hands-on clinical experience while working towards a recognised qualification.

As an Apprentice Dental Nurse, the successful candidate will assist with all clinical aspects of the surgery and help provide patients with a high level of care. The role requires a calm, reassuring manner and the ability to put patients at ease.

Full support, structured training and ongoing development will be provided to equip the apprentice with the skills and knowledge needed for a successful career in dental nursing.

Key Responsibilities

Daily duties may include:

  • Assisting the dentist with a range of treatments
  • Providing high standards of patient care
  • Preparing and cleaning the surgery
  • Sterilising instruments and maintaining equipment
  • Updating and maintaining patient records
  • Preparing instruments and materials for treatments
  • Adhering to practice policies and procedures

Throughout the apprenticeship, the apprentice will develop the competencies required to support safe and effective dental treatment, from routine check-ups to more advanced procedures.

Entry Requirements

  • GCSEs at grades C/4 or above (or equivalent) in Maths and English (essential)

A genuine interest in working within the dental sector is essential.

Training Provided

The apprenticeship combines employment with structured training to achieve the Level 3 Dental Nurse qualification. Training will cover key areas including:

  • Preparing for Professional Practice in Dental Nursing
  • Infection Prevention and Control
  • First Aid and Medical Emergencies
  • Oral and General Health
  • Endodontic and Prosthetic Treatments
  • Radiation and Radiography
  • Periodontal Disease and Cavity Restoration
  • Health and Safety
  • Extractions and Minor Oral Surgery
  • Dental Anatomy, Oral Health Assessments and Treatment Planning
  • Use of VR technology in dental training

Upon successful completion, the apprentice will gain the relevant qualification required to apply for professional registration with the General Dental Council (GDC).

Additional Requirements

Applicants should:

  • Be comfortable working in a clinical environment, including exposure to blood
  • Ensure reliable transport arrangements if using public transport
  • Be willing to complete a course of Hepatitis B vaccinations
  • Be eligible for a clear enhanced DBS check

Future Prospects

This apprenticeship provides an excellent foundation for long-term employment within the dental profession. Once qualified, there are opportunities for further training and career progression, including pathways into dental hygiene, dental therapy, cosmetic dentistry, or progression into senior roles such as Head Nurse, Team Leader or Practice Manager.
