RCVS Veterinary Careers Information Session

The RCVS Careers Team is hosting an online Veterinary Careers Information Session designed specifically for careers advisers, teachers, and education leaders who support students exploring future pathways.

This informative session aims to broaden understanding of the veterinary profession and highlight the range of accessible routes into veterinary careers. Attendees will gain up-to-date insight into entry requirements, including gateway and foundation programmes that accept BTEC qualifications, alternative entry routes with A-levels at CCC, and career options beyond traditional small animal practice.

Veterinary professionals work across a wide variety of settings, including farms, pharmaceutical companies, office-based roles, public health, government services, and transport hubs such as airports. This session will help advisers better understand and communicate these diverse opportunities to students.

During the session, participants will:

• Hear directly from veterinary surgeons, veterinary nurses, and current students
• Learn about more inclusive and flexible routes into veterinary careers
• Explore the wide range of roles available across the veterinary sector
• Take part in a live Q&A
• Receive a curated set of resources to support careers guidance and student conversations
