CforLP are delighted to announce the third Leadership Masterclass, Leading Change. We’ve reinvested our surplus revenue into the events which aim to support and strengthen our leadership community from primary age to retirement, and develop Cumbria’s leaders for today and tomorrow.

Delivered in partnership with North Lakes Hotel and supported by Westmorland & Furness Council, this FREE event will bring together leaders at all levels to explore the topic of Leading Change. Attendees will have the opportunity to listen to local inspiring leaders and participate in valuable conversations to share learning and best practice whilst building vital support networks.

Paul Robinson

Director of Enabler Services for Westmorland & Furness Council

Working in local government for 20 years with 14 years leading at Director, Assistant Director or Head of Service level, Paul is experienced in strategic leadership, delivery of large-scale public sector transformation programmes, governance, communications and partnership working.

Throughout his career Paul has benefitted from both formal leadership training programmes as well as informal leadership support and mentoring opportunities so is passionate about contributing to leadership events to ensure we ‘share, learn and improve’ from each other.

Paul has worked in Cumbria since 2015 and was an interim Director for Cumbria County Council until 31 March 2023 before transferring to the role of Director of Enabler Services for the newly formed Westmorland & Furness Council on 1 April 2023 as part of the Cumbria Local Government reform.

Paul has strategic responsibility for key council wide services including Human Resources, Organisational Development, ICT, Customer Services, Digital, Legal and Democratic Services.

Paul takes pride in inspiring teams to deliver large scale transformation programmes to improve outcomes by taking a ‘one team, people first’ approach working with elected members, officers, partners, and trade union colleagues.

Paul adopts an inclusive, customer focused approach to leading change with a strong reputation for delivering corporate wide change & improvement programmes, achieving multi-million-pound efficiency savings, and high-quality front-line service projects on time and to budget.

Pauls inclusive change leadership style results in him often seen as being a trusted, customer-focused problem solver, regularly tasked to challenge root cause of issues, step into organisational gaps, to drive transformational change or sensitively drive recovery and improvement projects to completion.

Paul has led many large-scale change programmes in Cumbia and is one of the Council Gold Commanders that leads responses to major incidents. During the Covid pandemic, Paul had strategic responsibility of Programme Director for the county wide Covid-19 Lateral Flow Test programme on behalf of the wider multi-agency Cumbria Resilience Forum, delivering a large-scale change programme at short notice.
