Week 1
Team name: Happy Hesket Stalls
Tell us what you have been doing this week
We decided what our company would be and what it would do. We came up with the name Happy Hesket Stalls through a vote. We made a list of possible names and then voted. We decided we wanted our company to raise some money for two places - our school and Great North Air Ambulance.
We thought of lots of possible ideas for our company to work. The main ideas are to have a café and a plant stall and invite people to buy them. We will have a big event day to sell things. People from Penrith Building Society helped us understand what a business actually is.

In one sentence please tell us what bright stars has meant to you?
Bright Stars is super duper FUN, it made us happy and joyful to see others enjoying something we created and it made us realise it's about how you do things not necessarily the outcome!
For teachers to answer:
Can you tell us the impact this programme has had on your school?
Bright Stars has been hard work for all of us but immensely rewarding. Seeing the children learn about and then constructing their own business, growing this into something that really works and enjoying their success has been a delight. Working in partnership with Penrith Building Society has enabled them to learn more deeply about how businesses work and has given them hands on insight into the world of work. The children have all developed their confidence and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
In a wider context, the children have engaged with our whole school community, creating excitement and anticipation. They have been professional and taken their roles seriously when working with younger and older children, with staff from Penrith Building Society and with Parents. Younger children are now wanting their own opportunity to set up a business.
