Week 2
Tell us what you have been doing this week
We met with our support team from Atkins Realis and learned all about what a business is and the 5 Ps. We looked lots at promotion and after deciding on our first business idea set about promoting this to our school. The councillors went to every class and told then that we would be selling Halloween themed snacks on Friday in school. We created a poster and told our parents via Class Dojo.
As a team we came up with the business name Snack Station and the tag line snack smart, snack sustainable. This is to link into our schools healthy eating policy and Atkins values of sustainability.

Working our the prices we would need to charge for our product to make a profit.
But we did it and made £55.45 profit.

Week 4
Tell us what you have been doing this week
This week we’ve made some really good progress. We started by meeting with Fern from our partner business to discuss our plans and get some professional guidance on how to move our project forward. During this meeting, we talked about the different job roles within our team and decided to allocate them based on each person’s individual skills and strengths. This helped us make sure that everyone is contributing in an area where they can do their best work.
After that, we worked together to design and create a series of logos to represent our business.

What did you find difficult this week?
Looking at ways to remain sustainable and align our business with this. We have used recyclable materials for our packaging.
Week 5
Tell us what you have been doing this week
We were visited by Sophie and Fern from Atkins, we discussed how to run a successful business and looked at the financing of the business, outgoings and incomings. We decided on what we would make and sell for our next day of business. We will be making fruit jelly and flapjack. We will be reusing the cups we bought for out fruit cups to ensure we are being as sustainable as possible.
What did you learn this week?
Fruit is expensive! To produce our fruit cups and banana bread we had a huge outgoing, which affected the amount we needed to charge and ultimately the profit we made. We have looked into less expensive options such as tinned fruit but are also mindful we need to keep the quality of items also.
What did you find difficult this week?
Finding time for all participants to attend meetings has been difficult and we have had to work with Atkins to request afternoon visits.

Working hard on day 2 of business

Flapjack making

Jelly was a big hit. We recycled our cups from last week to cut down on costs and promote sustainability.
Week 6
Tell us what you have been doing this week
We discussed making our video and have started discussing ideas on what to include in the video.
We planned our next day of business and got to work creating posters for promotion, planning, shopping, baking and selling.
What did you learn this week?
Importance of planning and being flexible- we left it quite late to buy our ingredients and almost needed to cancel. We then made the flapjack and didn't allow enough time for the product to cool, as a result we needed to push our opening hours back.
What did you find difficult this week?
Finding the ingredients for our snacks. We had to go to four shops.
Week 7
Tell us what you have been doing this week
Unfortunately, due to staff and children absence we have had to postpone all activities this week. We have a meeting on Monday 1st planned where we will begin planning our final day of business and our movie.

Week 8
Tell us what you have been doing this week
We visited our local charity, St Mary's Church this week. We attended the community cafe, where 70 people had attended. They are received a lovely breakfast and were able to take food parcels home if required. The local police were also there for any support or advice needed.
What did you learn this week?
We learnt all about the different things the Church does to support our local community and where the money we raised would go to.

Week 9
Tell us what you have been doing this week
We have been making plans for our final day of business, which will be our Christmas Fayre. We have decided on all stalls and have spoken with each classes to get their support in running these stalls also. We will have games, raffles and of course some healthy snacks for all out children. The school choir have also agreed to sing.
What did you learn this week?
The importance of team work. We have so many ideas for the fayre but we would not be able to follow through without the help of our school community.
What did you find difficult this week?
Ensuring, we have enough stock, people to help. All the logistics of running a much bigger business day than we have done in the past couple of weeks.
Week 10
Tell us what you have been doing this week
We have had a super busy week. We finalised our video and had our final meeting with the team from Atkins Realis - we have loved working with Catherine, Sophie and Fern. They have been a huge support through the past ten weeks. We held our final day of business and counted up our total money raised - a huge £1157.26. We visited the church and donated half of this amount to them so that they can use it over the Christmas period. We have decided that the remaining money will go towards replacing some of the sensory equipment in our sensory room.
What did you learn this week?
That a social enterprise can bring joy to everyone. We loved raising the funds but found the best part was gifting this to the church and hearing how it will support people within our community.
What did you find difficult this week?
Creating and editing the video has been the most difficult thing this week, from stage freight to technical issues but we did it!
