Week 1
Team name: Allonby Brightstars
Tell us what you have been doing this week
We run an afternoon club where we ran through the project and chose roles such as Chair, Finance, Secretary and Photographers. We did this as the school only has 21 students and some students preferred specific roles within the project. Kaine an I.T. service engineer from Storey contracting came into school to teach us about logo's and their importance to allow us to then create our own. We discussed some ideas and ran through challenges that could occur from each of them. We held our first event which was an Easter Bingo Night.
What did you learn this week?
It is important to set tasks to a deadline, and to give everyone time to have their say and use their voice. All ideas where put into the hat and each one looked at.
What did you find difficult this week?
When we started discussing ideas some of us got a little carried away. With the amount of time we have to plan and the resources we have as a small school some would not work.

Week 2
Tell us what you have been doing this week
This week we made letters to local businesses advising them of what we are planning to do over the coming weeks, what events we are holding, and what charities we are supporting. Everyone in the Team individually signed these letters and we sent them out. We also made posters by hand and realised that they were better on the computer. We took them out personally to local businesses and also gave to parents to place in their cars.
What did you learn this week?
Our posters looked more professional using bold text, bright colours and photographs therefore needed to do this on a computer.
What did you find difficult this week?
As a school project we needed to get Adult permission from Mr Owen to do this rather than us just going ahead with this. We learnt that we need to discuss and plan what we need to do.
Week 3
Tell us what you have been doing this week
We have been planning our budgets and idea's for our Spring fair which we have put into a mind map - discussed expectations financially, how much time it will take to set up - how much do we want to raise, pricing up what we want to do, and how we are going to market this to people.
What did you learn this week?
How to plan and the value of costing things correctly. We have had some rejections from our letters to businesses and have had to change some of our plans. Cost of living is impacting our project, therefore we need to adapt our business plan.
What did you find difficult this week?
Receiving rejection letters was upsetting for us. We have therefore needed to rethink our plans. This is why deadlines are important in making assessments of what we can do.

Week 4
Tell us what you have been doing this week
This week we have been preparing for the summer fayre we are holding on Friday 24th May. This has involved finalising the plans for it being an outside event with a plan b) for if it rains. We have prepared what tables we will need and what we will be selling, as well as the price, and also the setting up of everything. We also have started purchasing the items we need which we are making and re-selling such as jewellery and cakes. We have also chased up donations for the Auction of Promises Event and decided on the food we will be offering on the night and how the night will be run.
What did you learn this week?
How to plan and order things for our events. We also had to go out and speak to businesses and negotiate to get donations and get the best price. Some of us also had to realise that we need to scale down plans as we got a little carried away. We are only a small school.
What did you find difficult this week?
Time has been a real issue to do this. We are doing this at play time as we have deadlines to meet to achieve the tasks we all have.
Week 5

It takes a lot of preparation time to put on event.
We needed to check we had enough adults to help.
We needed to temper that we all work as a team and help tidy away at the end.
What did you find difficult this week?
Being confident that enough people would attend.
Fitting in our other commitments such as school work before the event.

What did you learn this week?
It takes a lot of time to put everything together, but it is necessary to get your product out to the customers in time for them to look at it.
What did you find difficult this week?
We had 2 staff of so getting an adult to help. We did this by using an extra after school activity.
