Following the Youth Ask survey conducted earlier this summer, Cumbria Future Generation and Cumbria Youth Alliance have launched the Youth Ask report, bringing together young people’s priorities and experiences from across Cumbria.
The report provides a powerful insight into the experience of being a young person in Cumbria and the challenges they face. It provides a detailed breakdown of youth perspectives on transport, housing, skills and training, employment, leisure, and youth participation across age groups and constituencies. Through the voices of young people shared throughout the report, it provides a raw, first-hand perspective of how these issues impact on the daily lives of our young people.
This report is meant to be the start, not the end of a conversation. Please read it, share it through your networks and encourage colleagues, partners and decision-makers to engage with its findings. By helping the report reach a wider audience, you can open doors for young people’s voices to be taken seriously and create opportunities for them to shape the policies and programmes that affect their lives.
The Youth Ask shows that young people in Cumbria are articulate and united in their views. We are now calling on decision-makers and those who work with young people to build upon these findings in the work that you do. We would welcome conversations about how we can work with you to engage young people, build on the report’s findings and promote youth voice and opportunity across Cumbria. If you would like to discuss the report or explore ways to get involved, please contact Rhianna.smith@cforlp.org.uk
