Tell us what you have been doing this week
We have been learning about what a business and social enterprise is! We have been researching different social enterprises to get some ideas for own! We paired up and researched Alpacaly ever after and tried to find out what the 5Ps for this social enterprise was and how they were making a difference. We learnt how to search on the iPads and how to look up different social enterprises in Cumbria so that we had a good understanding before we started our own! We have talked about Mcvities a lot and how this is a successful business and how the 5Ps relate to Mcvities.
What did you learn this week?
We have now know what a business is and a social enterprise, we also have been learning about the UN Global sustainable goals and discussing which goal our social enterprise should make an impact on. We also learnt all about the 5Ps and how lots of different businesses show the 5Ps.
What did you find difficult this week?
We found the 5Ps difficult but we soon got the hang of it and some of us could even remember the 5Ps of by heart! We also found researching on the iPads a bit tricky as this is a new skill for us!

Week 2 - half term

Tell us what you have been doing this week
We have been brainstorming ideas for our mini social enterprise. We talked about Christmas is coming up and how we could maybe do something to do with Christmas. We also talked about how we could make a difference.
What did you learn this week?
We learnt all bout how to mind map and develop ideas into something we could actually do. We also worked on our teamwork skills.
What did you find difficult this week?
We found thinking of ideas that were realistic in a relatively small time frame tricky, but we had some amazing ideas!

Week 4
Tell us what you have been doing this week
This week Grant and Jamie came in to talk about their business at William King Construction. We talked about all the different job roles their was in their business. They even brought in some vests and hard hats for us to try on! We also discussed what a profit is and how we could make a profit. We then decided what we needed to buy to be able to make a profit.
What did you learn this week?
We learnt all about a business and the different job roles. We also learnt what a profit is.
What did you find difficult this week?
This week it was difficult to budget money, we wanted to buy a lot of things that were expensive so we had to think about making a profit.
Week 5
Tell us what you have been doing this week
This week we started to make our reindeer cones and hot chocolate cones!
What did you learn this week?
This week we learnt all about the environment and sustainability. We realised that glitter in reindeer food may not be best for reindeers or any other animal that might accidentally eat it so we researched different ways to make our reindeer food nice and magical without using glitter.
What did you find difficult this week?
We found it difficult to make our reindeer food magical and christmassy without using glitter but we used environmentally friendly sprinkles and food colouring in the end that will not harm animals.

Week 6
Tell us what you have been doing this week
This week we have continued making our hot chocolate cones and reindeer food. We are also starting to sell them around school. We have made hot chocolate cones out of hot chocolate powder, chocolate chips and marshmallows and decorated them like reindeer.
What did you learn this week?
We were learning about how to price our items, we decided on £1 for reindeer food and £2 for hot chocolate cones. We talked about how we needed to price the hot chocolate more as this cost more to make.
What did you find difficult this week?
Deciding on the pricing. We wanted our product to be affordable but also make a profit so deciding on pricing was difficult.
Week 7
Tell us what you have been doing this week
This week we sold cakes as well as our Reindeer food and Hot Chocolate Cones!
What did you learn this week?
We learnt a lot about money and change as we sold cakes at both £1 and 50p.
What did you find difficult this week?
It was difficult to keep selling the cones so we started selling them in different places!




Week 8
Tell us what you have been doing this week
This week we have been trying to sell our last few Hot choc cones and Reindeer food cones. We have also been selling cakes at break time!
What did you learn this week?
We learnt how to make rice krispy cakes!
What did you find difficult this week?
It was hard to find time to sell and make our product this week as Christmas is coming up!
Week 9
Tell us what you have been doing this week
We have been finishing up our project this week and counting the money we have raised as well as reflecting on our project. We spoke about which were the hardest part and which parts we enjoyed.
What did you learn this week?
We learnt a lot more about money and counting money.
What did you find difficult this week?

We really enjoyed working together to make our hot chocolate cones and raise as much money as possible for charity.

Can you tell us the impact this programme has had on your school?
This programme has meant the children have been exposed to the business side of a social enterprise, they have been learning so much about businesses through the lessons plans and William King Construction. They have also improved their skills on working together and leadership as well as resilience and perseverance. Selling out Hot Cholate cones and Reindeer food has meant we have included the community and parents/carers into the project as well as the rest of the school as they supported us.
