Imogen visited from Forth and introduced Y2 to the Brightstar's project, introducing them to what they are going to be doing over the upcoming weeks and how the Brightstar's project works.
We found out all about the job Imogen does at Forth as well as what Forth does. We were interested to hear about some of the projects - especially the money machine!

What did you learn this week?

We learned about the BrightStars project and what we will be doing over the next term.
We learned that a business can sell goods or services.
We found out that a social enterprise is a special business that tries to do good things for people while also making money.

What did you find difficult this week?

We found it all very exciting. It was quite difficult to understand the difference between goods and services.

This week we shared all our great ideas collectively for the social enterprise, listening to everyone's idea individually trying to Narrow it down to our favourite ideas and then did a class vote to find the most popular. Which this was then the final decision.
We also started thinking about the name and logo for our business.

What did you learn this week?

We found out that our team has so many fantastic business ideas

What did you find difficult this week?

It was so so difficult to choose just one idea as we all wanted to focus on our own. We had to think about was was best for the team and choose an idea that we would be able to do in the time we have

Week 3

Tell us what you have been doing this week

During week three we spoke about Job roles and responsibilities within a social enterprise, learning all the different jobs there is and what they do differently in order for a business to be successful.
We then did group discussions about what job role we would like to do in our social enterprise, going onto completing the Job roles worksheet explaining what job role you have got and why

What did you learn this week?

We learned that there are many different job roles in a business but everyone still gets the chance to work together

What did you find difficult this week?

This week we found difficult, deciding one job role for each person as a couple wanted the same job role but needed to keep it fair so everyone had a role within their group.

Week 4

Tell us what you have been doing this week

This week we have been looking at the Marketing side of the social enterprise and we have designed our own posters alongside Imogen designing her own as well, to put up around the school to advertise our idea and when our products are going to be on sale, to make not just a profit but a difference.

What did you learn this week?

This week we learned the best marketing strategies to advertise products to attract customers and get their attention. This can be done through designing posters with Bright colours on, key info like date time and location and your business name on, and not overloading it to much.

What did you find difficult this week?

This week we really enjoyed the lesson as we are creative and have lots of fun when drawing and designing, so we loved designing posters for our ideas to put up around the school

Week 5

Tell us what you have been doing this week

This week we walked down to the shore with the help of some parent volunteers so this was possible, to collect pebbles that can be used for our pocket pebbles to design and write kind messages on to sell as part of our social enterprise. Once we were back from the shore and collected what we needed to we then came up with a shopping list to get everything we needed to be successful in our products and ensure we didn't miss anything off our list. the children then had some homework to go home with to decide on a charity to raise funds for from our social enterprise.

What did you learn this week?

This week while down at the shore we learned about the different shapes and size rocks and pebbles and had to decide which were going to be best suited for the pocket pebbles. To do this we said if you can fit your hand around it then it is the perfect size.

What did you find difficult this week?

This week, we found that it was difficult to actually look and decide which pebbles were going to work best and not just chuck in everything we saw and wanted, and had to decide on a reasonabl amount.
