Centre for Leadership Performance Cumbria delivered a Projx Arts work experience programme in partnership with Cumbria Arts and Culture Network as part of their #SeeItToBeIt project.
ProjX is an innovative multidisciplinary work awareness programme designed by CforLP in 2019, offering students the opportunity to work with a range of local businesses and gain insight into the roles and skills needed to deliver a professional project. It fits the requirements of the EqualEx modern work experience offer, providing high quality, meaningful work experience.
Working with CACN, Brewery Arts Kendal and a range of creative partners and organisations, the programme engaged 12 young people from the south of the county in an arts and culture focused experience.
The students were split into teams and given a live brief by CACN, acting as the client. They were contracted as an events management team to plan an event that supports young creatives in Cumbria. With the support of delivery partners, the teams developed their ideas and presented their proposals at the end of the programme.
The ideas included a digital competition for young creatives to submit and share their work, festival concepts with workshops and stalls, and events designed to connect young people with Cumbrian creatives and explore potential career pathways. These ideas have the potential to inform future activity within the sector.
A huge thank you goes to all the delivery partners involved, including TryBooking, Lakeland Arts, the Armitt Museum and the Knotted Project, as well as Brewery Arts Kendal who hosted the programme.
It was a very rewarding experience for everyone involved and a strong example of what can be achieved when organisations come together to create meaningful, real-world experiences.
We’re continuing to build more of these partnerships, where organisations benefit from our leadership opportunities and skills, while helping us to drive long-term sustainability through our shared mission.
